Privacy

Sleevenotes does not collect anything.

There is no account and no sign-in. There is no analytics package, no advertising identifier, no third-party crash reporter, and no server of ours for the app to talk to. This is not a policy we intend to grow into — it is a description of how the app is built.

What the app reads

With your permission, Sleevenotes reads what is currently playing in Apple Music, and the contents of your music library, so that it can show you who played on the recording. That reading happens on the phone and stays there. The track, the artist and your library are not transmitted anywhere.

The credits themselves ship inside the app as a data file, so a lookup needs no network connection at all. In aeroplane mode the app still works.

What leaves the phone, and only when you ask

Three things, each of them something you do deliberately:

1. Opening a link. Tapping Listen, or a link to Wikipedia, Discogs or Bandcamp, opens that site in your browser. From that moment you are their visitor under their privacy policy, not ours. We pass them nothing about you beyond the address you asked for.
2. Sending a report. While the app is in testing you can write up something that is wrong and send it to us. Nothing is sent automatically. Reports are written to your phone and stay there until you choose to send them, from your own mail app, to adam@sleevenotes.ink. A report carries what you wrote, which screen you were on, the build number, what was playing, and a picture of the screen as it looked. You can read the whole of it before you send it, and you can delete it instead.
3. Downloading a credits pack. If you install extra credits, the app fetches static files from GitHub Pages. GitHub sees that request the way any website sees a visitor: an address and a filename. It does not learn who you are or what you listen to.

Sharing a card

When you share a card with someone, the card travels inside the link's fragment — the part after the #. Browsers never send a fragment to a server. What you shared appears in no web log anywhere, including logs we do not control.

What we hold

Nothing, other than the reports you choose to email us. Those arrive as ordinary mail in an ordinary inbox, and are read for one purpose: fixing the app.

Children

Sleevenotes is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone.

If any of this changes, the date at the foot of this page changes with it.
